I am a Toronto-based glass artist. I graduated from Concordia University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Sciences, in 1989 with a Bachelor of Fine-Arts, and in 1995 with a Masters of Arts.

My studio is located at 282 Niles Street in beautiful Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada K0K 3L0

The sculptural series presented here are metaphors for sounds. I draw from my experience as a composer to materialize acoustic thought into glass. Each sculpture represents a sonic event captured in time, a visible resonance, a carrier of emotion.

I created irrigation I and II series by layering etching patterns using the computer as design tool – a method called algorithmic design. I would then carve, sandblast and polish until satisfied with the piece. It is important for me to try to use reclaimed glass as much as possible.

My next series, iceberg, is cast studio glass. Chunks of glass are melted into high temperature moulds produced using the lost wax technique. Each sculpture is fired and annealed for about 6 days in the kiln. Once cooled, the pieces are then carved, polished and sandblasted.

Colors are at play in my latest exploration, the asteroid bowl series. In these i make glass slabs using either studio glass or reclaimed glass, then cut them to size and polish all edges. The slabs are then slumped into ceramic moulds that give the bowls their final shape.
